My Work Life
Teacher
Monroe Middle School
August 2005 – Present San Jose, CA - Starting 2021 - 2022, I will be back to teaching 6th grade math and science. I mentor teachers in technology applications, work with students to troubleshoot site technology issues, as well as provide ongoing support to staff and students with respect to computer issues and applications. I also teach STEAM principles in all my classes - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math are integrated to lessons to give students a broader perspective with 21st century learning.

School Board Trustee
Milpitas Unified School District
1996 – 2000 (4 years) As a school board trustee, I oversaw a unified school district with 10 elementary schools, two middle schools, a high school, continuation school and adult programs. As a member of the board, I accomplished 9/10 required classes for the Masters in Boardsmanship program (I was ineligible for the last class, since I lost re-election). Our district had a multi-million dollar budget. At that time we implemented class-size reduction, added a new science building to the high school and worked to find solutions to a variety of issues.

A parent-involvement program in the Milpitas School District (1990-1996)
My Pre-Teaching years - I have worked as a lien service administrator, supervisor in a bank, a bartender, a cocktail waitress, a tutor and a babysitter. I was also an at-home mom raising 3 kids, 2 dogs and a cat.
