Global and Impact of Plastic

Picture
We will be using the data to create an awareness campaign on campus of the amount of trash on campus as well as the patterns of types of trash and the locations.
We are using an app to geotag litter that we pick up to create a data set of the trash around campus. We take a picture of the trash, then Litterati tags the date, time and location of the trash.  Students use hashtags (#) to identify that the trash was at #monroe.

The app is currently only for iphone, but we are using it on the ipads.  You can also post for litterati on an android phone by posting the pictures on instagram and using the hashtags.

If you are using the app outside of school, please use the hashtag #monroec  for the Monroe Community.

Digital Literacy

Students are logging in to https://platform.everfi.net/ to complete modules on digital literacy. Students may access this website from home.  70% (C-) is the passing score, although students may retake the module tests to upgrade their score.   The modules they are working on are:

Choosing A Computer
Wireless Communications
Internet Resources and Credibility
The Viral World
Creating Multimedia Products
Digital Relationships and Respect
The Future of Technology

Students who completed the Ignition unit last year and earned their certificate are working on a STEM unit through Everfi called Radius, which involves Math and Coding, Click here to see a video that summarizes the unit.

Keyboarding

Students should be practicing their keyboarding skills at http://www.typing.com .  Students have a log-in and password to access their accounts.  We will have typing tests every other week or so.  For the test, we use this typing site.
