All Resources are on this page  http://futurecity.org/all-resources

The new handbook for the 2017-2018 year is available.
The program handbook contains all the rules and information about the projects, deadlines and tips.  We will be reviewing sections during class and as we work on the various components of the competition.

This year's challenge for 2016 - 2017:

Team challenge:  Teams will identify an age-related challenge that exists in today’s urban environments and engineer two innovative solutions that allow their city’s senior citizens to be as active and independent as they want to be.

Next Steps in the Competition

If you are interested in starting early on the Future City competition, here is a document with some ideas to get you started.

 Future City Elements

Virtual City - Sim City (54 points)
Design a city in the Whitewater Valley Region, follow the rubric for specific needs for your city.  Keep an ongoing "score" so you have an idea of what you need to do.
City Description (60 points).  Students write a 1,500-word essay describing the unique attributes of their city and provide a solution to this year’s waste management challenge. Due in November or December.
The City Model (70 points)
The model will be built at school (unless your team chooses otherwise).  We will set aside some Saturdays in January, and some time after school and at lunch for your to work on your model.  It must be built to scale and showcase the innovations and best features of your city.
The City Presentation (70 points)
At the competition each person on your team will present a portion/area of your city.  You will have limited time so it is important that you are knowledgeable, clear and concise and can show the excitement of living in your city.  Click on the link for specific requirements of your presentation.
New for 2015-16 - Project Plan (10 points)
Students work with their team to complete a project plan to help them stay organized and focused with the Future City project. Due one week before the Regional Competition.
The Competition  - Location to be determined, the date is approximately in January.
