About Tech at Monroe...

Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum at Monroe Middle School.  We have a variety of technology options open to teachers when planning their lessons.  In our technology classes we do work with a variety of applications from Microsoft, Apple, Adobe and more.  We also work on skills such as research skills, keyboarding skills, and collaboration.  We will look at additional issues like Digital Safety, Digital Reputation, Using Technology as well as different types of technology that are being used such as solar power.  Technology is not just a class about computers, it is an opportunity for students to explore technology and discover new and interesting ways technology is used in our daily lives and world.

This year Monroe has a STEAM class for 7th/8th graders. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts (Aesthetics) and Math.  The class participates in the Future City Competition, works on design challenges, and learns about a variety of careers in the STEAM fields.

Our Video Production class learns the basics of video production from storyboarding to publishing and media literacy.  The class also support the Monroe Yearbook as photographers, journalists and editors and they support the KMMS news station through articles, video, reporting and anchoring the news.

Remember these Class Policies:

DUE DATES:  I should receive work by the DUE DATE with the appropriate turn-in procedure.  This could mean turning a worksheet in the box, uploading a file to Google Drive or completing a Google Classroom Assignment.  For every day an assignment is late, you will lose points.  All assignments are expected to be on time, on the date due.  If for some reason, you miss the deadline, ALL assignments have a DROP DEAD DEADLINE that is one week after the original deadline. Points are still deducted for late work, but you will still get some credit.  After this date you may not turn in that assignment.  If you are absent, you have however many days absent you were, extending the due date for you.  The drop deadline would apply from that extended due date.

HEADPHONES:  Headphones may be used in class ONLY with teacher permission.  You should bring your own personal headphones to use, but you must be responsible for them.

CELL PHONES:  Cell phones must follow the school district policy  - Click here for Monroe's new Cell Phone Policy.  While there are times when cell phones are appropriate in class, procedures and consequences will be followed for violations of the policy.  Please be responsible and use this privilege wisely!
